Thanksgiving!

Two things to remember about class and Thanksgiving this week:

1. If you didn't finish your blog entry on Saturday with your answers to the webquest, please post them as soon as possible. If you worked with a partner and don't have the information on your blog, you can also just put a link to your partner's blog on yours.

2. Remember that we're going to have a Thanksgiving celebration this coming Saturday (Nov. 27) immediately after class (at 12:00 noon). There will be food and fun activities, so I hope you can all come! If you do, please try to bring some food to share with others. Last year's celebration was lots of fun, so let's make this year's even better!

Oh, and also don't forget about this week's blog homework:

Find an urban legend or a story about a strange occurrence or supernatural event. After you research it a bit, write a short summary on your blog --in your own words-- describing some details about the story. Provide a link to more information if possible.
Be prepared to do a short presentation about your story in our next class!

That's all for now. Have a great week, and see you on Saturday!

Thanksgiving Webquest

Hello Everyone! Good morrow!

For today's class, please use this link:

http://www.zunal.com/webquest.php?w=75869

This is a "Webquest" that will guide you through a few activities to learn more about Thanksgiving (and hopefully help you with your English). The Webquest has a section titled "Process" in which it asks you to answer some questions. Please post the answers to those questions on your blog (if you are working with a partner, you can decide which of your blogs to put it on, and later include a link to your answers, if necessary).

If you finish with those questions in the time allotted, please also include a paragraph stating what you're thankful for.

Good luck with this, and Happy Thanksgiving (a few days early!)

A NOTE OR TWO:
It appears the link to the information about the Pilgrims isn't working correctly. You can find more general information about them on the Plimith website (just search for what you're looking for), or you can always go to good old Wikipedia.

Next, Pumpkin Pie is awesome. Check out this video hosted by Famous Fat Dave (that's how he introduces himself) where he finds out how Pumpkin Pie is made.

Also, this page can tell you how to talk like a Pilgrim, and it also has sound samples... it's pretty cool. If you dress up like a Pilgrim and talk like this for our next class, I might even give you extra credit.

Fare thee well!

Hello!

This evening I've been reading your blogs and making comments. Most of them look very good. If you've not finished your post about a "first" experience, please do so as soon as possible.

Thanks for your time and for making the blogs interesting. I'll hope to see you all tomorrow morning!

Week 2 Homework Reminder

Last week we talked a little bit about crime and the legal system, and we'll be going deeper into this topic in the next week or two.

Your week 2 homework is to write a post on your blog about a book, movie, TV show, or song that talks about the legal system or crime in general. If it's a story, you can give a brief explanation of what it's about, and if it's a TV show or song, you can write about a particular episode or part of the song that's interesting to you.  Also mention what motivated you to choose the topic you chose. If you have a way of including a link to the related book, movie, or song, please do so.

If you have any questions or problems with the assignment, please tell me. Good luck!

Reminder

If you're reading this, please remember to bring the worksheet from week 1 to our class tomorrow!

Also, I've been reading your posts about Halloween, and generally they look good! We'll see if we learn a bit more about the holiday in class tomorrow. Take care until then.
